FEATURED ON

HI! I’M DAN

Today, I’m a financial coach, creator of Adulting with Money, and a happily married husband. I’ve worked with a diverse range of couples, and I’ve coached people from all over the world.

HOW IT STARTED

Only months after being married, my wife came home one day with all these shopping bags. I thought to myself, “What the f*** did she buy this time?”

It was in that moment I realized that we were a great team–except when it came to money. Allison spent what she wanted. I spent what I wanted. I could see how that was a recipe for a coming disaster.

My initial reaction to seeing all those shopping bags was harsh, but the love for my wife swelled up and consumed me. My mission was to never again have that thought, and my personal finance journey began.

The problem then became how to bring Allison on the journey with me.

FINANCIAL HARMONY

I learned that when couples start to talk about money, they start with the what and the how. But the most important discussion to have first is the why. Learning to set goals together is the fastest way to financial harmony.

The reason I work with engaged couples and newlyweds today is because no one wants to become another divorce statistic.

I believe that when a couple can learn to talk about money, they can solve a lot of problems before they even start.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Maybe you and your partner are already a great team, but money still seems to be a taboo subject.

The secret is that money is simply a tool to build the lives we want. Use it well, and you’ll be able to embarrass your grandkids by kissing on your 60th wedding anniversary.

Not only can you have a successful marriage, but you’ll become role models for everyone around you. Before you know it, you’ll stop talking about money and start wondering what to have for dinner.
